About Me Mission Statement Professional & Political Personal Details
I am the longest serving member of the Legislative Council.

In 1981, I was invited to join the then Legislative Council as an Appointed Member.

In 1995 I ran for a seat in the Legislature, and became a member representing the Wholesale and Retail Functional Constituency.

In 1997 I became a member of the Provisional Legislative Council, swearing in immediately after the Handover Ceremony that formalized the passing of Hong Kongˇ¦s sovereignty from Great Britain to China.

In 1998 I resumed my role as the representative of the Wholesale and Retail Sector in the Legislative Council.

In 2004 I ran in the geographical constituency of New Territories West, and have served as its representative in the Legislative Council since.

So you can see that I have seen the most dramatic change in the political being of Hong Kong from a British colony to a Special Administrative Region of China.

The change has not been complete. According to the Basic Law the ultimate goal for the Legislature is universal suffrage. This is the aspiration of most of our people. I would just like to contribute to this metamorphosis by doing my best to help us get there with as little sacrifice of our freedoms, our wealth, our stability and our standing in the world as possible.
