Knitting for Our Society
Over 60 Tin Shui Wai inhabitants ranging from the age of 3 to the age of 70
recently took up the role of modeling. Wearing over 60 uniquely styled outfits
including vibrantly coloured jumpers, skirts, cardigans and various other items,
they carried out the runway walk with an air of professionalism. This
unforgettable event which took place in Tin Shui Wai's very own sports centre.
Organized on June 1st for the International Children's Day, this fashion show
was initiated by Selina Chow. Mrs. Chow told the story about an old lady from
Tin Shui Wai who presented her with a beautiful jumper as a gift. It was clear
that the jumper astonishingly involved extremely detailed skill and craft. This
made Mrs. Chow realize that Tin Shui Wai was in fact a place filled with many
hidden talents.
With the assistance of famous designer Judy Mann, Mrs. Chow invited five
famous designers from the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association
including the famous Barney Cheng and West New territories very own
Virginia Lau who teamed and designed some jumpers for the show.
